
French soprano Mia Mandineau is quickly becoming recognized for her beautiful voice, sensitive artistry and compelling stage presence.
During the 2023-24 season, Mia was a District Winner and Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition; won First Place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), colORCHESTRA, and Fredonia School of Music Concerto competitions; joined the Wolf Trap Opera Company as a member of its prestigious Studio Program; and performed a principal role in the world premiere of Nicholas Bentz and Robert Feng’s opera Having Guests for Dinner.
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, she will perform a concert of Mozart arias with the Catskill Symphony, Fiordiligi in Hillman Opera’s production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Micaëla in the Washington National Opera Orchestra’s concert production of Bizet’s Carmen, and Irene Adler in the world premiere of Glen Cortese’s opera 221B: A Sherlock Holmes Opera.
The 2022-2023 season saw Ms. Mandineau make her debut as a soloist at the renowned Megaron Concert Hall with the Athens State Orchestra, perform at the prestigious Theatre Festival Printemps des Comédiens in Montpellier in the play Ismène by Carole Fréchette, and debut the role of Elle in a production of Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine, which she co-produced with her stage partner the pianist and dancer Clément Rataud.
Selected from an international pool of young singers, Ms. Mandineau joined the prestigious Sir Georg Solti Accademia in the summer of 2022, where she worked with internationally acclaimed artists Barbara Frittoli, Roberto Frontali, and Richard Bonynge.
Her 2020-21 season included a debut at the Concertgebouw in a concert presented by the Grote Zangers Foundation; participation in masterclasses with Sergei Leiferkus, Linda Watson, Bejun Mehta, Lenneke Ruiten, and Dr. Bretton Brown; and a performance as Mère Marie in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites as part of the CvA Concert Opera Series.
In addition to her work as a performer, Ms. Mandineau is passionate about arts education. As the founder of the successful YouTube channel L’Opéra et ses Zouz, she has enjoyed partnerships with the Opéra de Paris, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, Detroit Opera, OperaVision, the National Swiss Opera, Palazzetto BruZane, and the national French radio and television. She received an important grant from the French National Centre of Cinematography (CNC) to further her work with the channel.
Ms. Mandineau was awarded a Fellowship to SUNY Fredonia School of Music and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance, under the tutelage of Don Marrazzo, with whom she completed her Bachelor's Degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) and her Artist Certificate at the Musical Horizons Conservatory in Athens.
